WEEK12:LIU YINGCHU

One of the most interesting things I learned while exploring Wikipedia is the important role that media plays in sharing knowledge. Before reading about Wikipedia’s media guidelines, I mainly thought of Wikipedia as a collection of articles and text-based information. However, I discovered that images, videos, and audio files are essential tools that help readers understand topics more clearly and efficiently. Visual content can make complex information easier to grasp and create a more engaging learning experience.

I was also surprised by how carefully Wikipedia manages media files. Every image or video must comply with copyright and licensing requirements before it can be used. Most media resources are uploaded through Wikimedia Commons, where contributors from around the world voluntarily share content under free licenses. This reflects Wikipedia’s commitment to both accessibility and legal responsibility.

At the same time, learning about media on Wikipedia raised several interesting questions. For example, how does Wikipedia ensure that images and videos are accurate and not misleading? Are there important topics that lack visual materials because of copyright restrictions? These questions made me realize that presenting knowledge online involves more than simply providing information. It also requires careful consideration of accuracy, legality, and the ways people learn. Overall, this section helped me better understand how visual media contributes to the effectiveness of Wikipedia as a global educational resource.

WEEK2— WANG SIWEN

During this week, I made 15 edits on Wikipedia and also created a new personal sandbox. Most of my edits focused on adding new content and translating information between different language versions of articles. Through this process, I tried to make the content clearer and more accessible to readers from different language backgrounds. In addition, I created a new sandbox to practice editing and organize my ideas before publishing them on the main article pages. The sandbox allowed me to test formatting and translation structures more carefully, which helped me avoid mistakes in public articles. WEEK2 ——edits on Wikipedia

During this week, I made several edits on Wikipedia. My main work was adding citations to some sentences that lacked sources in order to improve the reliability of the article content. For example, I added citations from gaming media websites for descriptions of the influence of characters in the Resident Evil series, and also supplemented official sources for the feature introduction of the Origin platform.
